More than 8 times tool life is proved about indexable center drill
Here, the indexable center drill “i-Center” made by Taiwanese cutting tool maker Nine9 has been introduced recently. These new cutting tool has taken over the posts previously HSS center drills which has been used for a long time.
Although this is only the one-week “ testing ” period, the new cutting tool has shown the tool life is“eight times” than before, and has given proof of the “unbeatable long tool life” of i-center theoretically.
Yoshio Matsumoto of the technical department who is in charge of the actual task comments on the results at one week after the commencement of use (at the time of the interview):“High speed drills made 200~250 holes per drill, but “i-Center has not yet shown any loss, and there are no problems with the wearing of the cutting edge. We are using these on machining centers, but I think they can be used on other CNC turning machines as well.”
The results of the durability test of tool life conducted by the company “ Tool de International ”, Nine9 distributor, indicates that although it depends on the using condition, when i-Center is used on machining centers, it is possible to drill 10,000 holes with one edge.
As Chunichi Seikou heavily values the processing of products with center drills, from the aspects of stopping the machines, halting or cancelling the tasks and intensifying of machines, the performance of i-Center can be greatly
anticipated.
“Tool life is 50 times in totally!”, “One case is good for the use of one year!” “Even a batch of work piece can be done with just by one edge! It means the “unbeatable long tool life…” comments can be realized. It is possible.
